Either the cemetery or the mausoleum builder will construct the foundation for the mausoleum. Many cemeteries have the experience and equipment needed to construct a foundation. The mausoleum builder will submit a set of plans called the "foundation plans" that will specify exactly how the foundation is to be constructed.

The price for constructing the foundation is determined by the cemetery when they construct the foundation. The cost of the foundation is based upon the overall size and complexity of the foundation - usually the cemetery will provide a price per square inch.

In situations where the foundation is not built by the cemetery, Great Mausoleums will build the foundation for the client. Great mausoleums has a tremendous amount of experience and is quite capable of building any mausoleum foundation.

There are two basic types of foundations used for mausoleum construction.

Slab Foundation: a slab foundation is a solid pour of concrete and rebar. It is recommended that the foundation is poured at a depth 1’ below the frost line.

Perimeter Foundation: a perimeter foundation is formed concrete measuring about 1-2’ wide on the perimeter of the mausoleum. Crushed stone is used to fill the inside of the perimeter.

Great Mausoleums builds both types of foundations for your private mausoleum.
