selecting the right cemetery

Choose a cemetery that family members can easily visit, has other private mausoleums on the grounds, provides stable management and professional maintenance.

how many plots are needed

Depends on the size of you mausoleum. A sarcophagus may require only 4 graves while a vestibule mausoleum will often require 10 or more graves to be purchased.

what is perpetual care

Perpetual care is money collected for the maintenance of the cemetery. Be sure to ask the cemetery about perpetual care before you purchase land at the cemetery.

who builds the foundation

The cemetery sells and builds the foundation in most cases. The mausoleum builder will submit plans that will specify exactly how the foundation is to be constructed.

land selection at the cemetery

Most cemeteries have land set aside for the construction of private mausoleums. Choose a location that is accessible, dry and unobstructed by other mausoleums.

landscaping around your mausoleum

Many cemeteries have very strict rules about landscaping the area and will restrict what can be planted around the mausoleum. Ask before you purchase the property.

can the cemetery sell a mausoleum

Cemeteries in New Jersey are not permitted to sell private mausoleums. A qualified mausoleum builder should be able to install a mausoleum in most cemeteries.

private vs. community mausoleums

A private mausoleum offers the client a level of privacy not possible in a community mausoleum. The private mausoleum is your personal architectural expression.
